Project Summary
The project aims to enhance knowledge and safe behavior among civilians and humanitarian workers in vulnerable communities on the threat of explosive ordinance through risk education to mitigate hazards of explosive ordinance. AFRYDEV is providing capacity-building training on Explosive ordinance risk education for humanitarian workers, government agencies, and community members, capacity building for Community Mobilization Assistants, and sensitization sessions targeting 4,000 benefices in 4 affected communities of Geidam L.GA.

This outcome involves empowering these assistants to effectively engage and educate the community members.
- Sensitization sessions: The project includes sensitization sessions targeting 4,000 beneficiaries in 4 affected communities of Geidam L.GA. The outcome of these sessions is an increased level of awareness and understanding among the beneficiaries regarding the threat of explosive ordinance and the necessary precautions to mitigate those risks effectively.

Executive Summary
AFRYDEV is a humanitarian and development organization dedicated to improving the well-being of conflict-affected communities in Northeast Nigeria. With a focus on youth, women, and girls, we aim to foster positive social mobility and prevent the recruitment and radicalization of individuals, as well as their involvement in violent extremist activities, conflict, and gender-based violence. Since 2013, The Organization has been actively engaged in designing and implementing interventions that drive positive change and promote safe societies. One critical aspect of the project is to address the threat of explosive ordinance in vulnerable communities. AFRYDEV is committed to enhancing knowledge and promoting safe behavior through comprehensive risk education programs. These initiatives aim to mitigate the hazards associated with the explosive ordinance and protect community members and humanitarian workers. To achieve this, the organization provided capacity-building training on Explosive Ordinance Risk Education (EORE) to humanitarian workers, government agencies, and community members. Through the training, participants acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively identify, assess, and address the risks posed by explosive ordinance. In addition, AFRYDEV conducted capacity-building programs for Community Mobilization Assistants, empowered them to engage with their communities and mobilize support for risk education efforts. These assistants play a crucial role in disseminating vital information and promoting safe practices within their communities. To reach the most affected areas, AFRYDEV conducted sensitization sessions in four communities within Geidam L.GA, benefiting approximately 4,000 individuals. These sessions raised awareness about the dangers of the explosive ordinance and educated community members on the appropriate measures to mitigate these risks. By implementing these technical interventions, AFRYDEV created safer environments, empowered communities, and prevented accidents and incidents related to the explosive ordinance. The organization remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting the well-being of conflict-affected communities in Northeast Nigeria through evidence-based and impactful interventions.
